My Father Ernest Lee Gohr (he went by Lee) gave his life to that project. Served the Navy well for many yrs. Underwater welder, diver, & more. He then went to Holmes & Narver for the clean up of the islands. He THOUGHT he was safe from harm (as did the others), but we all know how that turned out.I am his only daughter & its sad that he & many others are not recognized as they should be for their efforts.From bomb testing on the islands to clean up-its ALL dangerous on those islands.Im 62 now-& I will never forget he gave his for his country & the family he gave up to serve the clean up of that project.
